"I was the first employee hired by the superintendent of buildings and grounds. I remember Gil Hole. I got started because I would talk to the maintenance people in the buildings and all, but they didn't have any outside people, and they needed the grass to be cut. And I said, 'Well, I'll cut grass.' It was $1.10 an hour. I cut grass- among other things. Whatever needed to be done, that's what we did."
