"One of the
significant memories was that this place was nothing more than
mud from one end of campus to the other. I mean, we had to carry
boots in the trunk of our car, so that if we did venture beyond
what is now Henderson Hall, up the hill, to see the progress of
building the HPE building and the original library, and the
first of the academic buildings, and the student center, you
just had to have your boots on so you could trudge through the
mud and muck."
