 Boston Celtics (East) defeat LA Lakers (West) by winning games 1, 3, 5, and 6 of the 6 game series.

MAY 11: STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONSHIP*

Montreal Canadians defeat the St. Louis Blues by winning all 4 games of the series.

MAY 12: PARIS PEACE TALKS*

U.S. negotiators meets with North Vietnam leader, Xuan Thuy, in Paris, France in an attempt to put an end to the Vietnam War. Negotiations will go on for months.

MAY 13: PARIS GENERAL STRIKE DEMONSTRATIONS*

French citizens, largely students, join together to demand an end to the Vietnam War, higher wages, and the end of the state emergency imposed by the government.

MAY 17: CATONSVILLE NINE BREAK IN*

Nine Catholic protestors, including Rev. Daniel Berrigan, break into the Catonsville, Maryland draft board, taking 378 draft files and burning them in the parking lot with homemade napalm in protest of the Vietnam War. 

MAY 30: INDIANAPOLIS 500*

Bobby Unser wins the Indianapolis 500 with a new record speed of 152.882 miles per hour.
